If you are looking for a breezy summer evening wind-down, it is time to head to Brooklyn. Brooklyn Botanic Garden is bringing back its “Jazz in July” series, filling its lush outdoor spaces with live music.
For three consecutive Thursday evenings—July 9, 16, and 23, 2026—you can relax on the grass and listen to performances presented in partnership with local arts organizations.
The music officially kicks off at 7 p.m. each night, but you will want to arrive early. Starting at 6 p.m., the garden hosts special tours and interactive activities. Best of all, these programs are completely included with your standard garden admission.
What to know before you go
This is a picnic-style event, so you should bring your own blanket to stretch out on the lawn. Keep in mind that outside food, drinks, and lawn chairs are not permitted. However, there will be a pop-up bar with food and beverages available for purchase on-site.
The event is fully accessible. Wheelchairs are welcome, and accessible seating is readily available for visitors with limited mobility.

The 2026 performance lineup
Every Thursday pairs a vibrant musical set with a unique cultural activity. Here is exactly what is on the schedule this year:
- Thursday, July 9: Start your evening at 6 p.m. with a guided tour of the Block by Block Exhibition, celebrating the Greenest Block in Brooklyn contest winners. At 7 p.m., head to the Plant Family Collection to dance to Mizik Ayiti! featuring Gashford Guillaume & Creole Fusion Ensemble.
- Thursday, July 16: Join a 6 p.m. artist-led tour of Ancestral Ecologies in the Elizabeth Scholtz Woodland Garden. Then, make your way to the Cherry Esplanade at 7 p.m. to experience the boundary-pushing energy of Itai Kriss and Telavana.
- Thursday, July 23: Kick off the night at 6 p.m. in the Discovery Garden with a Disability Pride Month Art-Making Program. At 7 p.m., grab your spot at the Plant Family Collection to celebrate Brooklyn’s Little Caribbean community with Prince Emagine.
