Ready to live out that Jurassic Park dream? The Bronx Zoo Dinosaur Safari will return this spring, and it promises to be bigger than ever before.
One of the best things to do with kids in NYC, the beloved tradition returns April 12th with plenty of prehistoric goodness for paleontologists of all ages. There are over 60 life-sized predators stationed across the zoo, waiting for you to get up close and personal. Plus, there will be 11 newbies joining the fun. Oh, did we mention some move and roar?! YIKES!
New to the experience this year are a few immersive elements, including the ability to climb a giant fossil, walk through a massive dino ribcage, and snag photos of dino eggs. Make sure to bring your best selfie face for the occasion.
Additionally, safari guides will be on-hand to provide new information about the prehistoric creatures and their commonalities with animals that walk among us today. Consider it a class and an outing all rolled into one. The Safari is included with zoo admission, and tickets for the event will be available on the Bronx Zoo website soon. We’ll keep you posted as we learn more.
In the meantime, be sure to venture over to the American Museum of Natural History for a look at Apex, a 150-million-year-old specimen that has recently gone on display. Apex, a stegosaurus skeleton, comes in at a whopping 11.5 feet tall and 27 feet long — plus it is nearly 80% complete. Oh, and this guy was once REAL!
