Curtain Up Broadway Festival, a three-day outdoor experience, is coming to Times Square this fall.
Set to take place from Friday, September 30 through Sunday, October 2, this festival is bringing Broadway to the streets! Taking over Broadway between 45th and 48th Street, as well as Duffy Square (7th Ave. & 46th St.), fifteen interactive events and live performances will offer New Yorkers a free and exciting way to ring in the fall.
Music director James Sampliner will join Broadway stars such as Norm Lewis and other special guests to kick off this festival on Friday, September 30 at 2.m., a kick off celebration that will last until the sun sets.
Later on at 5p.m. New Yorkers will be invited to sing and dance along to Broadway songs, complete with live DJ sets and guest performances, before enjoying after dark concerts featuring the Broadway Sings Band and special Broadway performers at 6:30p.m.
Other festival events include a Broadway themed game show, a dance workshop, and several sing-a-longs among other exciting happenings.
Marking the end of the festival is Curtain Up LIVE from Broadway Festival finale concert, which will go on rain or shine Sunday, October 2 at 11a.m. in Duffy Square. The concert will spotlight marquee talent from Broadway productions and celebrate Broadway’s new season.
“Curtain Up Broadway Festival is a celebration of Broadway and the great city of New York, and it is a perfect way to kick off a brand-new season packed with an incredible array of new shows,” said Charlotte St. Martin, President of The Broadway League. “With 17 Broadway shows already scheduled to open through December, and at least that amount scheduled to open in the spring, we are in for a season jam packed with something for everyone.”
