Oops, she’s doing it again!
The Britney Spears jukebox musical ‘Once Upon a One More Time’ will hit the stage at the Marquis Theatre in the spring of 2023 following a sold-out run at Sidney Harman Hall in Washington, D.C.
The show, which is produced by Tony winners James L. Nederlander and Hunter Arnold and directed and choreographed by Keone and Mari Madrid, will mix iconic fairytale characters such as Cinderella, Snow White, The Little Mermaid, and others with hits from the princess of pop’s extensive discography, including “Lucky,” “Toxic,” “Circus,” and “Oops I Did It Again.”
Every fortnight, when our storybook heroines gather for book club, they always discuss the same book, Grimm’s Fairy Tales — because as far as they know, it’s the only book that’s ever been written. That’s when a rogue fairy godmother drops The Feminine Mystique into their corseted laps. From now on, “happily ever after” will never be the same. It’s the ultimate revisionist fairy tale that’ll make you feel stronger than yesterday.
Though Spears isn’t directly involved in the production, she attended an early reading of the musical back in 2019 and called the project “a dream come true for [her],” according to The Washington Post. The Hollywood Reporter says that a rep for the production stated that all of the musical compositions in the show are licensed through their publishers with the approval of the songwriters.
‘Once Upon a One More Time’ will kick off with previews on May 13, 2023 before opening night on June 22, 2023 at 210 West 46th Street.
