Spring is officially here, and with Earth Day being tomorrow, we’re on the hunt for the absolute best day trips to soak up some much needed fresh air.
And right in the heart of the Hudson Valley sits Boscobel House and Gardens, a jaw dropping historic estate that feels like it was pulled straight out of a period drama.
Overlooking the Hudson River with sprawling floral landscapes, it is the ultimate nature retreat just an hour north of New York City.
Best of all, they are throwing a massive, completely free Earthfest celebration this weekend to honor Earth Month in the most scenic way possible.
What to expect at Earthfest ♻️
Earthfest takes over this breathtaking 112 acre campus in Garrison on Saturday, April 25, from 10 am to 1 pm.
Thanks to generous funding, admission to the gorgeous grounds and exhibition galleries is completely free for the event!
Visitors can browse unique treasures from local makers, shop the famous Cold Spring Farmers Market right on site, and enjoy a breezy picnic on the iconic Great Lawn.
Dozens of local organizations will also be setting up shop to share hands on climate solutions, zero waste hacks, and brilliant tips for planting your very own pollinator gardens.

Evergreen magic across the property
Beyond the Earthfest festivities, the property itself is a magical destination for garden lovers and history buffs alike.
The Neoclassical mansion was built in the early 19th century and was actually saved from demolition in the 1950s.
Preservationists miraculously moved the house 15 miles upriver to its current bluff, where it now looks out over Constitution Marsh and the United States Military Academy at West Point.
The surrounding grounds are loaded with beautifully curated landscapes.
You can wander through the elegant Apple Orchard, take in the scents of the Herb Garden, and admire the Formal Gardens bursting with colorful spring blooms.
Nature enthusiasts will also love the Frances Stevens Reese Woodland Trail of Discovery.
This tranquil trail guides you through forested ravines and offers picture perfect river views flawlessly framed by the trees.

Plan your perfect spring escape
Getting there is incredibly easy for New Yorkers craving a small town vibe.
Boscobel House and Gardens is located at 1601 Route 9D in Garrison, New York, making it a quick drive or a highly scenic ride on the Metro North Hudson Line.
After exploring the historic trails and celebrating the planet, you can easily pop over to the charming nearby village of Cold Spring to grab an iced coffee and stroll past picturesque antique storefronts.
It is the exact kind of reset we all need this season!
