Following the upsetting news just last week about the imminent closure of both the East Village and Williamsburg Boris & Horton locations, comes an exciting opportunity to save the two establishments.
Though no direct reason for the closures was ever announced, the initial announcement was met by an outcry of customers saddened to hear the news. Yet, thanks to the community’s support, Boris & Horton may be able to continue its 6-year legacy.
Father and daughter duo, Coppy and Logan, who own Boris & Horton, just posted to Instagram a campaign that sets out to keep both cafes up and operational. Through newly launched subscription boxes (ranging from $120-$500) including hats, mugs, and treats, that will first be shipped out in April, in addition to a donation website, the pair hope to save both locations.
The two shared that all the money from the donations and subscription boxes will be put towards new air conditioning, deep cleaning and repainting of the cafes, replacement furniture, new staff hirings, and to pay employees while the cafes hopefully only temporarily close.
They have set the monetary goal at $250,000. Already, the company has raised $71,150. Coppy and Logan said they will keep the community updated along the way, to share their progress towards the goal.
