First opened in 2019 on 3rd St. between Ave A & B, this local independent bookstore is also home to a bar — where you can enjoy wine, beer and snacks in between chapters.
Owned by two long-time residents of the East Village, Erin Neary and Nat Esten wanted the “spirited and dynamic neighborhood” reflected in the store, from “the cozy living room-feel decor, to curated book inventory, locally roasted coffee, and NY state craft beers.”
The store spans one large floor, with tons of bookshelves filled to the brim, a long wooden bar, and there’s plenty of comfy seating like big leather chairs so you can curl up with your next read.
They also host tons of fun events: from poetry nights to acoustic music series to drinking & drawing classes to author talks. See their events page here.
At the bar or throughout the store, enjoy an extensive wine list (click here to view it), plus a selection of coffee, tea and pastries in the morning. There’s also a wide selection of craft beers as well!
And, there’s a back garden for warm days, and outdoor seating in front of the store as well. Check out their website here.
