For just one week more, you can check out this disturbingly interesting pop up exhibition. Are body modifications the newest accessory?
A. Human is an immersive experience unlike anything you’ve ever seen. Start off your journey as you enter into a fashion showroom from the future where clothes have been replaced with body modifications and general weirdness reigns.
The exhibit uses set design, technology, prosthetics, live actors and other special effects to blur the line between reality and fantasy, all while asking very real questions about our definitions of self-expression and beauty. The interactive playground is filled with jaw-dropping sights (like the live actors sporting a Tudor style neck ruff that bulges out and looks like actual skin,) sounds, and experiences – including theatrical surprises throughout.
The founder of A. Human encourages us to think, “when you change your body like you change your clothes, does your appearance lose all meaning or does it mean everything?” Something to think about in wake of New York fashion week.
Even celebrities like Chrissy Teigen and Kim Kardashian have been caught sporting this “trend.” Check it out for yourself.
The show is taking place in SoHo at 48 Mercer Street up until the end of the month.
