Hammonton, NJ: The home of the blueberry
Hammonton’s blueberry roots run deep.
In fact, the cultivated blueberry was first domesticated just a few miles away in the NJ Pinelands in the early 1900s—and today, the town remains one of the top producers in the country.
Each summer, the town welcomes thousands of fruit lovers from across the Tri-State area to its family-owned farms and blueberry-themed events that are the best in the world.
Of those, the beloved Red, White & Blueberry Festival, drawing blueberry lovers from all over for a day’s worth of pies, live music, and fresh pints of locally grown fruit.
It usually happens in June each year (so it’s sadly passed for 2025), but definitely mark your calendars for 2026.

Visit during peak season at these must-stop farms:
🫐 Consalo Family Farms — A local institution that’s been growing blueberries for over 90 years. While it doesn’t offer public picking, its berries are shipped across the U.S. and can be found at many major retailers (look for their Summer’s Best label!).
🫐 Blueberry Bill Farms — One of the town’s most accessible U-pick farms for over 55 years. You can pick-your-own and fresh blueberries during harvest through August 1st.
🫐 DiMeo Farms & Blueberry Plants Nursery — This farm grows about 986 acres of fresh NJ blueberries on their 109-year-old-farm. They also offer blueberry picking at $2.50 per pint, plus live music, nature trails, and kayaking or swimming in the creek with fully-shaded picnic areas in the Pinelands forest.
Many of these farms offer fresh pies, jams, and other blueberry treats too—so even if you skip the picking, you won’t go home empty-handed.
