NYC honored what would have been the Notorious B.I.G.’s birthday last month with commemorations including limited-edition MetroCards, light shows and more. Now, Lincoln Center is remembering the famous NYC rapper in its own way with two special outdoor music experiences.
First, on Friday, June 10 at 7:30 p.m., there will be a beautiful orchestral tribute to The GOAT of hip-hop. Multi-instrumentalist and composer Miguel Atwood-Ferguson will conduct a concert symphony performance of hits from B.I.G.’s multi-platinum album Ready to Die and 11 x Platinum Life After Death. Special guests will also make appearances, alongside a live set from regular B.I.G. collaborators.
Though most of Lincoln Center’s outdoor summer concerts are casual, they ask guests dress in Creative Black Tie to honor the NYC music legend. The concert will take place in the Damrosch Park bandshell within Lincoln Center’s Campus.
Then, follow the concert at 9 p.m. with a silent disco on the Center’s brand-new outdoor disco dance floor, The Oasis. NYC’s DJ collective The Originals will be mixing Biggie’s greatest hip-hop hits all night long. The Originals will also be contributing to the orchestra concert earlier in the evening.
Both events are free to attend on a first come, first-served basis. For the orchestral event, there are a small amount of limited advanced tickets you can book on their website here.
