Gridlock traffic is expected in NYC this afternoon, Thursday, March 28th, as President Biden and former Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton are set to visit The Big Apple for a campaign fundraiser at Radio City Music Hall.
President Biden is expected to arrive in Manhattan around 1pm, which will cause city officials to tighten security and close streets, thus causing heavy traffic throughout the area. According to Pix11, traffic barriers were already up around the venue by 7am this morning.
The fundraiser has a star-studded guest list, with more than 5,000 people having paid between $250 and $250,000 to attend. The event starts at 8pm.
According to NBC, street closures will begin at 12pm today as follows:
- 49th, 50th, and 51st streets shut down to traffic between Fifth Avenue and Sixth Avenue
- Limited pedestrian traffic beginning at 3pm
Biden last visited NYC twice in February for campaign events. His first appearance caused widespread street closures and standstill traffic, while his second visit wasn’t as chaotic.
Moreover, ABC7 writes that former President Trump is also set to visit NYC today, though separate from the others. He will also attend the wake for fallen NYPD Officer Jonathan Diller in Massapequa Park on Long Island.
