Live music is everywhere in our favorite city, and so much of what makes NYC’s music scene special is the chance to see artists in intimate rooms before they inevitably graduate to bigger stages. But it’s a rarity to see an artist who has already conquered arenas get back into a venue where the crowd is close enough to feel every note.
That’s exactly what made Benson Boone’s Wells Fargo Autograph Card Exclusive show at Palladium Times Square so special. The singer-songwriter, who has gone from breakout hit “Beautiful Things” to selling out Madison Square Garden, traded the arena spectacle for an intimate night in Times Square.
Even the pre–concert experience was an experience in itself, with fans getting to enjoy curated activities including making spin art on vinyl records and snapping photos at a variety of immersive photo installations before heading inside for the show.
“Ladies and gentlemen,” Boone said to the crowd. “It’s been a long time since I’ve been in a room this size. Its good to see your faces. Lets have a good time tonight!”
Boone packed the intimate room with plenty of the songs that have helped propel him to arena-headlining status, moving through newer tracks like “Mr Electric Blue,” “Wanted Man,” and “Mystical Magical” alongside fan favorites including “In the Stars,” “Take Me Home,” “GHOST TOWN,” and, of course, “Beautiful Things.” And of course? His signature backflips both during and in between songs.
