After over 15 years on the stage, Avenue Q will end its off-broadway run next spring.
The last performance is set to take place on April 28, 2019. The renowned puppet musical—known for its raunchy comedy and politically challenging message—was written by Robert Lopez, Jeff Marx, and Jeff Whitty (who wrote the book).
The musical first began at the John Golden Theater in 2003, winning three Tony Awards the very next year for “Best Musical,” “Best Score,” and “Best Book” for 2004. In 2009 the show went off-broadway instead of completely leaving broadway and has since been at the New World Stage.
By the time Avenue Q ends it will have completed over 6,500 performances since opening day.
