On Thursday, October 13th, eat your way through delicious Japanese dishes at Night Market by Upstairs NYC. The event will highlight traditional Japanese street food with fine-dining execution, as Bushwick’s high-end Japanese cafe, MIKA, will transform its 8,700-square-foot space into an expansive night market. The venue will make for a beautiful backdrop to the festivities with gorgeous lanterns decorating the atmosphere.
Inspired by the “Kitsune (fox) festival” in Japan that prays for business prosperity and household welfare, the market’s theme will be #kitsune. Guests are encouraged to take part in the tradition and wear a kitsune mask.
Visitors will be able to feast on tons of mouthwatering options like takoyaki, yakisoba, BBQ (Yakiniku) burger, and kobe beef sushi from some of NYC’s most popular Japanese restaurants. A selection of Asian-inspired cocktails, along with sake, and shochu will be available, along with Yuzu flavored mocktails from Drink Lunar, Wesake, Honkaku Spirits and Moshi for non-alcoholic options.
Menu items will average between $10-$15. A limited supply of tickets will be available thanks to UpstairsNYC, an NYC media firm, to get cheap deals on items. Tickets include one free beer and $6 off one menu item.
Beyond delicious bites, the outdoor patio and indoor area will feature a large island bar and games like pool, shuffleboard and darts to keep you entertained all night long.
People can order their tickets for the food festival online for $12, or $15 at the door. Purchasing tickets in advance is highly encouraged as the aforementioned deal will operate on a first come, first served basis. Online ticket holders will get guaranteed admission.
