For the New Yorkers tired of spending their summers in the Hamptons or Upstate, why not try a trip to the Dominican Republic? With a flight under four hours, New Yorkers can travel on Arajet’s new route this summer faster than it’ll take the jitney to get you to Montauk when it’s peak travel season.
Arajet, the Domincan Republic’s flagship airline known for its affordable fares, recently announced its U.S. expansion. This exciting low-cost route will launch on June 16th, departing from EWR and landing at SDQ (Las Américas Santo Domingo Airport).
Victor Pacheco, CEO and founder of Arajet, said:
Arajet is committed to making air travel accessible and affordable for the Dominican community and American tourists alike, and New York is a key market to strengthen our U.S. presence…The Newark service will complement routes between the DR, Miami, and San Juan, Puerto Rico, to establish Arajet as a carrier of choice for U.S. travelers booking vacations and getaways as well as visiting friends and family. We look forward to welcoming travelers with the convenience, affordability, and exceptional service Arajet is known for.
Fares for the EWR-SDQ route will start at under $300 roundtrip. Competitor airlines for this route, such as United, has a roundtrip flight between EWR-SDQ from August 5th through August 12th for $611 in basic economy. Arajet’s website shows the same route and dates for $381. That’s 38% cheaper fares on Arajet.
Wanting to book a getaway that has no immediate return date? You can find one-way flights from EWR to SDQ on Arajet for as little as $127.
When selecting flights with Arajet, passengers will be able to customize features like extra legroom, checked bags, and priority boarding to their liking. Upon arrival, travelers will be able to get to 24 other destinations via Arajet if they so please.
The additional flights between New York’s EWR and SDQ will make travel between the two airports more accessible than ever before, especially for a city like New York that’s home to the largest Dominican diaspora.
