You know we’re living in a great time when you read a headline about an organised rally to support a bev. If you’re a spritzie (we’ve coined this one) who will defend the drink till the end, you have to attend this Friday’s rally…
As soon as the weather warms up a bit and there’s a hint of sun, Aperol Spritz season begins! It’s one of the go-to drinks amongst New Yorkers, Italians and people around the world, and a recent spike in its popularity seems to be attributed to impressive marketing tactics of the brand itself.
Obviously the cult following was ready to defend the drink’s honor when the NYT came out with an article titled “The Aperol Spritz Is Not A Good Drink” a few days ago. The argument was that its nice looking appearance, complimented by the orange-hue, distracted from the actual taste, which the writer described as “a Capri Sun after soccer practice on a hot day…not in a good way”.
Look, at the end of the day everyone is entitled to their own opinion…. even if it is terribly wrong. If you’re someone that won’t accept any aperol slander, then join the rest of your people at The Springs bar in Greenpoint from 4pm – 2am to celebrate the bev in the best way possible – drinking! The drink options include: classic Aperol Spritzes and Aperol Spritz Slushies (these sound amazing) for $10, but if you come dressed in orange you’ll get a $2 discount.
Looking for fun afterwork plans this Friday? Now you found them!
