Waiting to meet your Jude Law like Cameron Diaz in The Holiday? You can live out your fantasy with Airbnb-friendly Apartments (AFA). Though this program was already available in the States, it’s now expanding internationally, so you can truly live out The Holiday IRL.
AFA lets users find apartments available for part-time hosting. Full renters are able to host their homes on Airbnb in order to earn additional income under certain guidelines.
Airbnb is currently partnered with more than 750 buildings with over 200,000 units across the U.S. This is a particularly great program for renters who love to travel because the more you’re away from your place, the more you can Airbnb it for extra cash.
To expand the program internationally, Airbnb has partnered with real estate company, Greystar. Now residents living at apartment buildings like Sailmaker in Canary Wharf, Greenford Quay in West London, and Fizzy Walthamstow in East London can generate extra income with access to almost 1,5000 units compliant with AFA. And with 79% ok UK renters interested in supplementing there income, this offers a wonderful opportunity to do so.
“Given the success of our partnership in the US, we’re pleased to help introduce Airbnb-friendly Apartments to the UK,” said Maria Hatch, Senior Director, Client Relations at Greystar. “It adds financial flexibility for residents and our community management teams have visibility into hosting activity, which means they can help ensure everything runs smoothly and there is no impact to the wider community.”
Many renters face obstacles offering their home up for short-term rental due to various tenancy agreements. AFA successfully solves this issue with landlord oversight to encourage responsible home-sharing. The program only permits occasional hosting to ensure it does not adversely affect housing availability.
“With many renters continuing to find themselves cost burdened, AFA offers a valuable opportunity to earn income through Airbnb while they’re away. The sustained growth of AFA and the interest from partners to expand internationally demonstrate the versatility of this model. I’m excited to see it flourish,” said Jesse Stein, Global Head of Real Estate at Airbnb.
Along with the AFA expansion, Airbnb is debuting Airbnb-friendly Condos (AFC) program. Learn more on their website.
