Nike and Jordan Brand are preparing to release one of the most talked about sneakers of the past couple years this month (February 2025) — the Air Jordan 1 High ’85 “Bred.”
The iconic red and black sneaker has a nostalgic history that dates back to its original 1985 release as Michael Jordan’s first signature sneaker with Nike.
This specific “Bred” colorway has even deeper history…becoming a turning point for sneaker culture in that era. Back then, the NBA required a certain percentage of player’s sneakers to be white, and this on-court sneaker became a symbol of rebellion against the league’s uniform regulations.
Realizing this as an incredible marketing opportunity, Nike ended up paying each fine that Jordan received for wearing the shoes, earning them the alter-nickname, the “Banned 1s,” amongst sneaker collectors.
Now, some 40 years later they’re being remastered again and dropping next week in very limited quantity at select stores, including some in NYC.

Air Jordan 1 High 85 Bred 2025 Release Date
The Air Jordan 1 “Bred” is set to release on February 14th, 2025 at select Jordan Brand stores in the United States. It will not be releasing online via Nike’s system SNKRS. The sneaker will be priced at $250, a tad higher than the typical $180 asking price for similar versions of the silhouette.
