Today, January 10, marks the fourth anniversary of David Bowie’s death—and in true NYC fashion, a touching tribute has popped up in honor of the icon.
At the Broadway-Lafayette subway station, the subway letters above ground were rearranged to spell out BOWIE 4, and the words “TO STATION” were added to the sign (which now reads “STATION TO STATION” in honor of one of Bowie’s most popular albums).

The placement of this tribute is also fitting in the fact that David Bowie passed away in his home on Lafayette Street. With Bowie’s birthday falling on January 8th, many people have also been taking to Instagram to share photos of the station from a few years ago when David Bowie photos were plastered across station walls to promote his “David Bowie Is” exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum.
