Things—or should we say ovens—are officially heating up for the Great Borough Bake Off of NYC!
This deliciously festive gingerbread competition, brought to life by the Museum of the City of New York, is ready to sprinkle the city with both creativity and plenty of frosting.
Now through January 19th, museum visitors will be able to witness an immersive gingerbread wonderland that captures the spirit of NYC, all in celebration of a beloved annual competition, now celebrating its fourth year.
Stroll among intricately crafted cityscapes, iconic landmarks, and imaginative interpretations of neighborhood life—all brought to life with icing, candy, love for NYC, and lots of holiday magic.

This time of year is all about celebration, comfort, and sharing love—and what’s more loveable than the city we all call home? New York has always had a magical way of wrapping us up in its energy, its diversity, and its endless stories.
Fittingly, this year’s theme, “Iconic New York,” represents just that. Bakers from across the boroughs are invited to let their hearts guide their designs, drawing inspiration from the things that make their own neighborhoods special.
Maybe it’s a building that has watched generations grow, a corner shop where everyone knows your name, a park you played in as a kid, or a memory that captures the spirit of the community coming together.
On their website, MCNY cites that:
From brownstones and bridges to bodegas and ballparks, no symbol of New York is too big—or too sweet—to tackle.
