Normally, spotting the New Year’s Eve Ball high above Broadway means freezing in a winter crowd while waiting for the final seconds of December.
This weekend, however, Midtown is getting an unexpected autumn makeover.
Beginning at 7:00am on Friday, October 30, the world-famous sphere atop One Times Square will illuminate with an exclusive Halloween pumpkin design.
The glowing jack-o’-lantern visual will run continuously through 1:00am on Sunday, November 1, greeting hundreds of thousands of costumed revelers and locals passing through the crossroads of the world.
Whether you are dashing between spooky pop-ups or taking little monsters out to collect treats, looking up over 42nd Street will offer a rare, festive photo op you won’t see any other weekend of the year.

Trick-or-treating takes over One Times Square
The outdoor spectacle isn’t the only treat waiting on the block.
Inside the historic building, the One Times Square Candy Experience has officially transformed into a high-energy indoor stop for Halloween trick-or-treaters of all ages.
Spread across three full floors, the multisensory attraction typically guides visitors through sweet interpretations of New York classics—from the leafy trails of Central Park to bustling borough neighborhoods and the subterranean NYC subway.
Through this weekend, that route gets an interactive upgrade.

Visitors walking through the experience will find:
- Festive treat stations dishing out curated assortments of sweets at every stop.
- Candy bucket decorating tables where kids can customize their own haul containers.
- Spooky photo backdrops built for costumed snapshots throughout the landmark.
- A nostalgic retro sweet shop on the top floor packed with hard-to-find treats and custom merchandise.
What to know before you go
The takeover marks an ongoing push to reinvent One Times Square into an active, year-round attraction rather than just a once-a-year countdown stage.
The venue also features interactive Ball history tours, curated celebrations, and the ground-floor INY Gifts souvenir shop.
