Fall in New York City is officially peaking, and one of the town’s most cherished traditions is making its grand return.
The Rink at Rockefeller Center officially opens for its 90th anniversary season on Saturday, October 10.
The first skaters will take to the ice at 9:00 AM. What started as a temporary attraction back in 1936 now welcomes more than 250,000 skaters every year.
The rink will remain open daily throughout the season, with general admission tickets starting at $22 per person.
Kenny Scharf’s ‘Scary and the Dancers!’ art takeover
Ice skating isn’t the only reason to visit Center Plaza this weekend. Renowned artist Kenny Scharf is unveiling his brand-new public art installation, titled Scary and the Dancers! anchored by a massive 34-foot-tall inflatable sculpture, the vibrant, cartoon-inspired artwork brings a splash of bold color right to the heart of Midtown.
Families can also participate in Art Sundae, a free children’s art workshop held every Saturday through October.
Scharf’s installation will remain on view through November 1, just ahead of the famous Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree arrival on November 7.
