Die Weihnachtszeit ist hier in NYC in vollem Gange, und da Weihnachten nur noch ein paar Wochen entfernt ist, machen wir uns bereit für unseren jährlichen Filmmarathon! Es ist kein Geheimnis, dass die Stadt einer der festlichsten Orte überhaupt ist (wir schauen dich an, Weihnachtsbeleuchtung und Weihnachtsbäume), aber sie ist auch die Heimat einiger der kultigsten Weihnachtsfilme aller Zeiten!
Vom Central Park bis zur Radio City Music Hall – die Wahrzeichen von New York City waren schon immer festliche Kulissen (und man kann sogar Touren zu ihnen machen)! Hier sind die besten Weihnachtsfilme, die in NYC spielen und die Sie sich diesen Dezember ansehen sollten!
1. Elf (2003)
Will Ferrells kultige Rolle als Buddy begleitet den am Nordpol aufgewachsenen Elf auf seiner Reise nach New York City auf der Suche nach seinem leiblichen Vater! Mit Blicken auf den Central Park und das Empire State Building verwandelt sich Buddys witzige Reise durch die Stadt in ein Chaos, als er ihn endlich persönlich wiedertrifft.
2. Das Wunder in der 34. Straße (1947)
Das Wunder in der 34. Straße ist so typisch für New York City, wie es nur sein kann! Als ein Mann bei der Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade als Weihnachtsmann engagiert wird, nimmt er sich die Rolle zu Herzen und wird selbst zu Kris Kringle (zumindest in seiner Vorstellung). Als er für die Feiertage wieder angeheuert wird und behauptet, der echte Weihnachtsmann zu sein, landet er vor Gericht und erlebt ein Weihnachtswunder. In diesem Film sehen Sie Macy’s Herald Square, den New York Supreme Court und vieles mehr!
3. Allein zu Haus 2: Verschollen in New York (1992)
In der Fortsetzung des legendären Films „Home Alone“ wird der 8-jährige Kevin McCallister erneut allein gelassen… und wandert dieses Mal während der Weihnachtszeit durch die Straßen von New York! Alle seine Missgeschicke werden zum Leben erweckt, wenn er an Wahrzeichen wie dem Plaza Hotel, dem Rockefeller Center Tree, der Radio City Music Hall und vielen mehr vorbeikommt!
4. Serendipity (2001)
Als Jonathan und Sara sich bei Bloomingdale’s treffen und sich sofort ineinander verlieben (obwohl sie andere Partner haben), verabreden sie sich im Upper East Side Restaurant Serendipity 3 zum Dessert. Von dort aus erzählt die Liebeskomödie die Geschichte des Schicksals zwischen den beiden und das bezaubernde Gefühl der Liebe während der Weihnachtszeit in New York. Die Wollman Rink im Central Park, Bloomingdale’s und das Waldorf Astoria Hotel haben Auftritte!
5. Scrooged (1988)
Bill Murray spielt die Hauptrolle in dieser modernen Version von Charles Dickens‘ „A Christmas Carol“, in der er einen Fernsehmanager spielt, dessen kalter Ehrgeiz ihn zwingt, die Liebe seines Lebens zu verlieren. Als er an Heiligabend einen Mitarbeiter entlässt, kehren eine Reihe von Geistern zurück, um ihn heimzusuchen, bis er sein Unrecht wiedergutmacht. Der Film wurde in ganz New York an verschiedenen Orten wie der Fifth Avenue, dem Lincoln Plaza, dem Central Park und vielen anderen gedreht!
6. Als Harry Sally traf (1989)
In dieser zeitlosen romantischen Komödie lernen sich Harry und Sally kennen, als er sie nach ihrem College-Abschluss von Chicago nach New York mitnimmt. Über einen Zeitraum von einigen Jahren erleben die beiden eine Reihe von Momenten… insbesondere eine Schlüsselszene während einer Silvesterparty sowie verschiedene andere im Central Park, in der Met und in Katz’s Delicatessen.
7. Dash & Lily (2020)
In dieser recht neuen 8-teiligen Netflix-Serie tauschen der zynische Dash und die optimistische Lily in ihrem Notizbuch, das sie in ganz New York hin- und herreichen, ihre Kühnheiten, Träume und Wünsche aus! Die romantische Geschichte zeigt einige der außergewöhnlichsten Orte der Stadt… angefangen beim Strand Book Store und weiter zum Macy’s Herald Square, dem Union Square Holiday Market, der Grand Central Station und mehr.
8. Der Familienvater (2000)
Nicolas Cage spielt in diesem Film aus dem Jahr 2000 einen reichen Investmentmakler, der ein Penthouse mit Blick auf die St. Patrick’s Cathedral und die Fifth Avenue besitzt. Als er jedoch bei einem versuchten Raubüberfall einem „Schutzengel“ begegnet, bekommt er einen Eindruck davon, wie sein Leben verlaufen wäre, wenn er stattdessen seine Highschool-Liebe geheiratet hätte.
9. Silvester (2011)
Obwohl es weniger Weihnachten als Silvester ist, verfolgt diese lustige Liebeskomödie das Leben mehrerer Paare und Singles in der Silvesternacht in New York! Natürlich ist der Times Square in diesem Film präsent!
10. Das Leben ist schön (1946)
In diesem Weihnachtsfilmklassiker von Frank Capra geht es um einen Mann, der alle Hoffnung verloren hat… aber als er einen Engel trifft, der sich seine Flügel verdienen will, zeigt er George, wie das Leben wäre, wenn er nie geboren worden wäre. NYC taucht in einer kurzen Szene des Films in einer alternativen Realität auf, die George die positiven Auswirkungen seines Lebens vor Augen führt.
