Auch wenn sie nur einen kurzen Wochenendausflug oder einen Tagesausflug entfernt liegen, sind diese atemberaubenden Gewässer perfekt für einen kurzen Sprung ins kühle Nass! 1. Canopus See
Der Canopus Lake liegt im Fahnestock State Park und ist etwa eine Stunde von New York City entfernt! Der 100 Hektar große See verfügt über einen großen Sandstrand und einen Badebereich. Er ist eher zum Bootfahren und Angeln als zum Schwimmen geeignet, aber es gibt einen großen Strand, in den Sie Ihre Zehen eintauchen können! Wenn Sie wirklich Lust haben, können Sie auf den schönen Campingplätzen übernachten oder sogar einen malerischen Wanderweg unternehmen.

2. Marcia-See
Der Lake Marcia in Sussex County, New Jersey, ist normalerweise den ganzen Sommer über bis zum Labor Day-Wochenende geöffnet! Der 20 Hektar große See und der Sandstrand sind bewacht und befinden sich in der Nähe des High Point State Park und des New Jersey Veterans‘ Memorial. Mit über 50 Wanderwegen in der Nähe bietet diese kleine Oase Bademöglichkeiten, herrliche Ausblicke auf das Denkmal, Möglichkeiten zum Angeln und Bootfahren und vieles mehr. Es gibt sogar ein Badehaus und einen Verpflegungsstand.

3. Welch-See
Dieser künstlich angelegte See im Harriman State Park verfügt über einen eine halbe Meile langen Strand, in dem Sie den ganzen Sommer über schwimmen können! Er liegt am Fuße des Ramapo Mountain, und der weitläufige Strand ist ein großartiger Ort zum Schwimmen, Bootfahren und Angeln. Es gibt reichlich Parkplätze, der Strand ist sehr gepflegt, und der benachbarte Beaver Pond Campground lädt zum Grillen, Wandern und Zelten ein.

4. Nord-Süd-See
Einer der beliebtesten und größten Seen in den Catskill Mountains ist der North-South Lake, der, wie Sie sich vorstellen können, zwei riesige Seen in sich vereint. Schwimmen kann man hier an einem der beiden Strände (wenn Rettungsschwimmer im Einsatz sind), aber es gibt noch viel mehr zu erleben. Der nahe gelegene Campingplatz bietet 219 Zelt- und Wohnwagenstellplätze, Picknickplätze, Campingschleifen, Wanderwege, Angelplätze und vieles mehr.

5. Wawayanda-See
Vom Memorial Day bis zum Labor Day-Wochenende können Sie im Lake Wawayanda schwimmen, wenn Rettungsschwimmer im Dienst sind! Der See ist vor allem für seine ruhigen, bewaldeten Hügel bekannt und bietet die schönste Kulisse zum Planschen. In der Nähe gibt es Wanderwege (Teil des Appalachian Trail), einen nahe gelegenen Bootsverleih (nicht im Park selbst) und Campingplätze zum Übernachten. Wenn Sie an den Wochenenden kommen, sollten Sie sich darauf einstellen, dass der Park überfüllt ist!

6. Greenwood-See
Der Uferpark in Greenwood Lake, NY, ist ein hübscher kleiner Sandstrand, an dem man im Sommer schwimmen gehen kann. Er ist seit über 200 Jahren ein beliebtes Urlaubsziel, und der 9 Meilen lange See liegt direkt im Ortszentrum. Wenn Sie die Stadt im Urlaub besuchen, können Sie für nur 10 $ eine Tageskarte für den See und den Strand kaufen! Danach sollten Sie unbedingt die Stadt erkunden.

7. Hopatcong-See
Der Lake Hopatcong ist das größte Süßwassergewässer in New Jersey und liegt nur 40 Meilen von New York City entfernt – ein ideales Ausflugsziel! Besucher können hier nicht nur am Sandstrand schwimmen, sondern auch Boot fahren, segeln, Kajak fahren, schwimmen, angeln, Wassersport treiben und vieles mehr – das ganze Jahr über! Außerdem bietet die hübsche Stadt in der Umgebung Restaurants, Bars, Yachthäfen und vieles mehr!

8. Tiorati-See
Dieser hundefreundliche See verfügt über einen Sandstrand, den Sie im Sommer besuchen können, sowie über viele Wiesen und Hügel, die Sie in der Zwischenzeit bestaunen können. Er befindet sich im Harriman State Park und verfügt über zugängliche Angelstellen, Grillplätze, Wanderwege und ein Badehaus mit Toiletten und Duschen. Allerdings gibt es hier keine Konzessionen, also decken Sie sich mit Snacks ein, bevor Sie schwimmen gehen!

9. Bantam See
Der Bantam Lake ist der größte natürliche See in Connecticut, und die beiden Strände Morris Town Beach und Sandy Beach sind der perfekte Ort, um sich abzukühlen. Außerdem gibt es Bootsanleger, wöchentliche Veranstaltungen am See und im Winter sogar einen Skiclub. Nicht zu vergessen ist auch die große Auswahl an Restaurants.

10. Taghkanischer See
Eingebettet in das Hudson Valley liegt der Lake Taghkanic im 1.569 Hektar großen Lake Taghkanic State Park. Natürlich können Sie in den Strandgewässern schwimmen, aber Sie können auch ein Zelt oder einen Wohnwagen aufstellen und campen sowie den Bootsladen, die Spielplätze, den Imbiss und vieles mehr besuchen! Der Park ist täglich geöffnet und Sie können sogar Kajaks und Paddelboote mieten!
