If you’re looking for your own personal bodega cat (minus the bodega) or a canine companion to keep you company as you hide away in your apartment cuz it’s too damn expensive to leave it, you’re in luck! Animal Care Centers of NYC (ACC) is offering adoptions fee for as low as $5 all summer long for those looking to adopt a large dog or adult cat.
ACC works to end animal homelessness in NYC, providing homes for homeless and abandoned cats, dogs, guinea pigs, and rabbits both by adopting animals directly to those looking to add a fur baby to their family and by partnering with 200+ animal placement organizations.
However, even with several locations across NYC (they have adoption centers in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Staten Island), they’re facing critical capacity issues.
And while they’re currently open for adoptions, drop-off animals that require emergency medical care, and drop-off animals that pose a public safety risk, they’re closed for cat intake due to overcrowding.
To combat this issue, all summer long ACC is offering large dog or adult cat adoptions for as low as a $5 fee. Normally, depending on their age, dog adoption fees can cost between $75 and $250, while adult cat adoption fees are usually $75.
All adoptable pets can be found here. Prospective fur parents have the option to filter by species, age, weight, gender, location, and whether or not the pet is ready to be taken home the day of adoption.
ACC Adoption centers can be found at the following locations:
- Manhattan Animal Care Center – 326 East 110th Street (between 1st and 2nd Aves.) / Open for adoptions: Monday, Wednesday, Friday-Sunday – 12 p.m. – 5 p.m., Tuesday & Thursday 2 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
- Brooklyn Animal Care Center – 2336 Linden Boulevard / Open for adoptions: Monday-Sunday 12 p.m. – 5 p.m.
- Staten Island Care Center – 3139 Veterans Road West / Open for adoptions: Wednesday-Sunday 12 p.m. – 5 p.m.
