Sick of the crowded and late subway trains? Bikes too dangerous? Uber too expensive? Here are five alternative ways of commuting that will make your 9 to 5 life more bearable:
1. Roller skates
[Mister G.C./Flickr]Less dangerous than biking because you can probably get away with staying on the sidewalk. Skates are also faster than those weird hover-board things which are now illegal anyway.
2. Paddle skateboarding
[Wikimedia Commons]This just looks like a ton of fun, never mind the convenience of using it to commute. It takes way less energy than regular skateboarding so you won’t be sweating like pig by the time you get to the office.
3. A sled dog team
[Arthur T. LaBar/Flickr]This one only works in the winter. Right after it snows. Before anything gets plowed. So everything is probably closed anyway. But damn wouldn’t this be a blast!
4. Canoe/kayak
[Katie Killary/Flickr]Only works if you live close to the water and your office is also close to the water. By-pass the bridge traffic and just paddle to work.
5. Jet pack
If you can’t find your own, make friends with this guy and maybe he’ll let you borrow his.
