New York City’s cannabis scene has officially blossomed, and this year’s 4/20 celebrations prove the “high holiday” is about so much more than just chilling on your couch.
Dispensaries, cocktail lounges, and local haunts across the boroughs are rolling up (pun absolutely intended) with massive block parties, neighborhood scavenger hunts, competitive joint-rolling showdowns, and munchie-curing restaurant collabs.
Whether you’re a seasoned stoner, completely canna-curious, or just looking to score some free banana pudding and killer vibes, the city is packed with community-driven events.
Grab your dream rotation and check out the absolute best ways to celebrate 4/20 in NYC this year.

The Travel Agency is officially claim-staking 4/20, transforming the “high holiday” from a single day into a month-long takeover.
Spanning from Union Square, SoHo, Fifth Avenue, and Downtown Brooklyn, this cultural residency is a one-of a kind cannabis collaboration with deep NYC roots.
The lineup kicks off April 16 in SoHo with an OnlyNY launch party featuring sets by Va$htie and Odalys. There will be live illustrations by “The City Never Sleeps on 420” illustrator Riley Andreu, custom NYC cookies by Funny Face Bakery, a fisheye photobooth, elevated beverages and promotions from Dark Heart and Select.
With storefronts draped in bold installations and a “members-only” secret drop every Friday of April, it’s a dive into the intersection of art, music and cannabis culture.

4/20 activations at Housing Works Cannabis Co.

Celebrate 4/20 while giving back to the community at the state’s very first adult-use dispensary, Housing Works Cannabis Co (where 100% of proceeds support housing and healthcare for New Yorkers).
This year, they are teaming up with fellow NYC icon Magnolia Bakery to stock up on their highly anticipated edibles. Even better? The first 50 customers in the door on 4/20 will score a free classic banana pudding!
The dispensary is also rolling out a full weekend of festivities, including in-store activations on 4/20 from brands like Dank, Curaleaf, and Electraleaf.
If you join their loyalty program between April 12th and 20th, you can snag a free swag bag, and anyone who buys Space Poppers Popcorn this month will be entered into a raffle to win AMC movie tickets and snacks.
The Great Ganja Hunt at TRENDS

TRENDS LIC is bringing back their wildly popular “Great Ganja Hunt” for a second year.
Kicking off the holiday weekend on Saturday, April 18th, this interactive scavenger hunt turns Long Island City into a clue-filled playground.
You’ll follow a trail through local businesses to unlock hidden gems, surprises, and plenty of neighborhood discovery. The adventure starts and ends at the TRENDS dispensary, and tickets are just (you guessed it) $4.20!
The stakes are high, but the best part is that everyone walks away a winner.
The first 10 participants to finish the hunt will score a $420 prize package, while one lucky standout winner will take home a massive $1,000 haul.
Even if you aren’t the fastest to finish, you’ll still leave with some fun goodies for your efforts.
The Stoner Olympics at Pinky Swear
Gather your dream blunt rotation and head to the Lower East Side, because psychedelic restaurant and cocktail lounge Pinky Swear is hosting the ultimate “Stoner Olympics.”
On Monday, April 20th, teams of three will go head-to-head in a fierce joint-rolling showdown. You’ll be judged on speed, style, and size to win major prizes and claim the title of 4/20 royalty.
Even if you’re just there to spectate, Pinky Swear’s neon-lit space is a total playground.
Sip on their signature “Reverse Spacetime” berry-basil smash (which is literally served in a bong with tableside spark-up service), munch on whimsical dishes from Chef Will Horowitz, roast fireside s’mores in the outdoor courtyard, or challenge your crew to a few rounds of Mario Kart.
4/20 Block Party at Gotham Buds

Head uptown to Harlem’s flagship dispensary, Gotham Buds, for a massive community block party that doubles as a “love letter” to the neighborhood.
Happening right across from the iconic Apollo Theater on Sunday, April 19th, this all-day celebration brings the energy with live graffiti art activations, a branded photo booth, and a live DJ spinning sets to keep the vibes high.
Expect exclusive product drops and on-site pop-ups from top-tier brands like TICAL, ROVE, and Camino. When the cravings inevitably hit, you can hit up their complimentary munchie station.
Plus, if you’re looking to stock up for the actual holiday the next day, they’re running a killer “4 for 20” deal, giving you 20% off when you buy four or more items.
Superfly Dispensary’s 4/20 Weekend Extravaganza

Upper West Siders, you don’t have to travel far for a massive 4/20 celebration!
