Take a sneak peek at the new balloons, inside info on this year’s performances and much more. Now in its 91st year, the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is a beloved tradition (unless you’re trying to get across Manhattan), here is everything you need to know.
Ready for Turkey Day SecretNYCers? We’re only days away from the 91st annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, where thousands of tourists and city dwellers alike will stand to watch the festive procession take place. What would Thanksgiving be without novelty hot air balloons and lip syncing pop acts? Nothing. That’s what!
This year the parade begins at 9 am on Thursday, November 23, 2017, at the corner of 77th Street and Central Park West:
The parade will travel south to Columbus Circle, then turn east onto Central Park South before turning onto 6th Avenue where it will turn right at 34th Street and end at Macy’s in Herald Square. The parade will last around 90 minutes to travel the 2.5-mile stretch.
Time to talk about those balloons, the parade will see the return of old favorites as well as some newcomers. If you’re too impatient to wait the extra day, on Wednesday, November 22, you can head to Central Park West, between 81st and 77th streets, in front of the American Museum of Natural History, and see the balloons being inflated between 3 and 10 pm.
Among the new balloons in this year’s parade are Macy’s Golden Snowflake Stars, Macy’s Blue and White Star, the third version of Aflac Duck, and…
