8 things you and your BFF haven’t done together in NYC

“What up, homie? Wanna hang?” Of course you do. It’s your best friend in the whole world. But c’mon, if you guys order one more pizza and watch Netflix people are going to start talking. Here’s some stuff you can do together in the city to mix things up a little….

1. Yoga

You know what they say, you don’t truly know your best friend until you’ve seen each other doing a downward dog. In case you’re a newbie, there’s plenty of yoga offers in NYC where you can get a free session with professional instructors.

2. Monarch rooftop bar

We imagine drinking in NYC is nothing new to a couple of party animals such as yourselves. But have you taken in the breathtaking views from the Monarch rooftop bar? No? Well, here’s a free drink to get you both started. Enjoy!

3. Eat some dim sum in Chinatown

Try saying that ten times fast! Eating in the street is a favourite pastime for the average New Yorker, but why do it alone? Head to Chinatown and grab yourself some dim sum to eat as you walk around the city. Spill a little down your shirt, there? No worries, your best friend doesn’t care that you’re a slob. That’s why you love them.

3. Rock the Yacht!

We would hazard a guess that hanging out on yachts is not an everyday occurrence in your social lives. Presumably due to neither of you owning a yacht (which we feel is understandable). Time to set sail for new horizons and get you two aboard Hornblower’s Rock the Yacht! Cruise. Here’s a discount. You can thank us later.

4. Chocolate dessert making

If there’s one thing you and your best bud have been able to bond over in your long history together, it’s chocolate. But rather than bickering over the last square of Hershey’s, let’s take things to the next level. Learn how to make delicious French chocolate desserts from professional chef Simon Herfray.

5. Open mic

If performing at an open mic sounds like the first part of a nightmare you regularly have that precedes you suddenly realising you aren’t wearing pants – we feel you. But you’ve always promised yourself you’d suck it up and do it at least once in your life and who better to be supporting you from the front row that your platonic life partner?

6. City wine tour

Want a alcohol-fuelled night out that will actually impress your parents? Look no further. You guys will be regaled with the knowledge of a professional wine taster (which you may or may not remember the next day) as you taste a wide selection of wines at two of the swankiest spots in NYC. There’s also cheese and chocolate (Are you still here?) What’s more, you won’t regret the inevitable photos that appear on Facebook the next day because you’ll look elegant as hell. Probably.

7. Go to a Staten Island Yankees game

Sports fan or no. Yankees or Mets. It doesn’t matter. You’ve got to get yourselves to at least one of the Staten Island Yankees games. The minor league team enjoys phenomenal views of the city skyline at the Richmond County Bank Ballpark. Sports and sightseeing in one!

8. Row a boat in Central Park

Hmm… Perhaps a little on the romantic side for you and a friend that you don’t get intimate with? We beg to differ. We think you’ll find there’s nothing quite like spending an afternoon splashing about on the lake. At the very least it’ll make you feel like you’ve been sophisticated enough to counterbalance the beer chugging you’ll probably be doing later in the evening.
