Earlier this year we let you know about a Harry Potter themed restaurant opening in Brooklyn. Pasta Wiz Express delivers your dish in 3-5 minutes. Magic! Despite mixed Yelp reviews, the success of the Williamsburg (60 North 1st Street) eatery is spurring a sister location in Manhattan.
The Pasta Wiz Harry Potter-themed restaurant (chain) is the brainchild of Alex Dimitrov, the man who brought us Mehanata, the city’s favorite Balkan disco dive bar.
The new Pasta Wiz, like its predecessor, is all about fast/casual Italian food. Organic pasta dishes, salads, and a fantastic build-your-own option, that is in your hands in only five minutes. Given the young demographic of the neighborhood, and the speed of service, it’s hard to imagine this pasta joint not enjoying a great deal of success.
One of the biggest criticisms of the original Potter-Themed restaurant is the extremely tenuous link between the potter universe and a pasta-place. To quote one Yelp user:
“…let down by the single broom stick and a few books glued to the wall as “Harry Potter themed.”
Even a cursory scan of Yelp will show you that Pasta Wiz is a divisive place. People seem to either love it or hate it. Let’s hope its the former rather than the latter in their new Greenwich Village location.
The new location, in Greenwich Village at MacDougal Street (between Bleecker and West 3rd Streets) and its grand opening taking place on September 5.
Here are some images of the original Pasta Wiz Express so you know what to expect in their new Manhattan spot.
