You know how it is: you’re walking along the picturesque High Line park route, you get to the Jacob Javits Center and you feel like something’s missing – like a gigantic hub in the middle of the Hudson for you to step out onto.
Well, don’t worry, because renowned NY architect Eytan Kaufman has got your back with this proposal for a nine-acre floating island.
Hub on the Hudson – which has not been commissioned – proposes a pedestrian bridge from High Line close to 34th Street over the West Side Highway leading to the state-of-the-art center 700 feet into the river.
It would consist of five pyramids with a central garden, a reflecting pool, restaurants, sports facilities and an arts center.
