What if your go-to summer treat wasn’t a cone full of ice cream, but it was full of delicious southern chicken, fried to perfection, in a waffle cone with a hint of vanilla. Yeah, southern comfort food just became portable.

When Chick’nCone first appeared in the city, at Bryant Park’s Winter Village, many were left wondering when they’d  have the chance to sample a little more of the comfort food king’s savory chicken bites. From a food truck in Pennsylvania to a popup in NYC is already a fairly grandiose leap, a testament to the quality of the eats, now they have been officially welcomed to the city with a permanent place in the Chelsea food hall.

The recipe uses a dash of vanilla for the cones themselves lending them a sweet crunch. The chicken is coated with panko (flaky breadcrumbs), flour and buttermilk before being fired to perfection. Hungry yet?

A cone will cost you a reasonable $8 and offered with a choice of six sauces: yellow barbecue, traditional barbecue, cinnamaple, spicy ranch, piri piri, and Buffalo blue cheese. For the more adventurous there is also a sampling of four smaller cones for $12 or crispy shoestring fries with cajun seasoning.

Chick’nCone is open daily from 11 am to 8 pm in Gansevoort Market alongside such NYC favorites as Big Gay Ice Cream and La Sonrisa.
