Who wants to see Kermit and Miss Piggy? The Museum of the Moving Image has launched a Kickstarter to raise $40k to open its permanent Jim Henson exhibit, here’s everything you need to know.

A Kickstarter campaign has been launched to raise $40,000 for a permanent Jim Henson exhibit. The puppeteer’s work would find a permanent home in The Museum of the Moving Image and is believed to include costumes, props and, most important of all, muppets like Miss Piggy and Kermit, Elmo, Cookie Monster and the Fraggles. The Kickstarter page describes the exhibit as:

A dynamic exhibition exploring the work of the creative genius behind the Muppets, and his unique contributions to popular culture.

As of writing this article the campaign has already raised almost $23,000, over half way to the $40,000 goal.

This is not the first time we’ve heard of this project. It was originally batted around back in 2013 when NYC gave $2.75 million to create a 2,200-square-foot gallery on the second floor of The Museum of the Moving Image. Now construction is officially finished, the $40k will be used to restore the beloved puppets and build their display cases.

Here’s hoping that the Muppets take Astoria! Find out how you can help HERE.
