Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, has been a tremendous success in London theaters. But J.K. Rowling’s theatrical production, that continues the saga of the boy wizard, won’t make the move to Broadway until the spring of 2018. The producers of the production announced their expansion to the US on J.K. Rowling’s Pottermore site.

‘The moment we opened in the West End, the inevitable question was ‘when are you going to Broadway?’ […] So we brought the creative team to New York in September this year to look at many of the beautiful theatres in New York City. Eventually, the team settled on The Lyric Theatre, which will be completely remodeled and reconfigured from a 1,900 seat theatre into a more intimate 1,500 seat auditorium to accommodate the dramatic look and feel of Cursed Child.”

The Lyric Theater is turning it’s space into more of an intimate setting by removing some 400 of its seats, and thanks to the refurbishing and remodeling, we’ll have to wait over a year to see the show.

Just in case you were thinking of traveling to London for the next installment of the boy wizards adventures, you should know that London’s Palace Theater is sold out through 2018.

The two-part story premieres in the UK in July 2016. When the novelization of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child went on sale in The US back in July, the book sold almost 2 million copies in its first two days and broke Amazon’s preorder records.
